Hulu Hosts Virtual Bring Your Kids To Work Day For Hulugans and Their Families
May 18, 2020
With more than 2,000 Hulu employees working remotely across the company’s seven U.S. offices, in person events like the annual Bring Your Kids to Work Day needed to be reimagined. To commemorate the day, Hulu opened its “virtual doors” for employees and their children to embrace fun and create memories from home.
The six-hour long event, which took place on May 15, featured activities for kids of all ages including little Hulugan yoga, a make your fortune teller tutorial, guitar jam session, fun with origami, and a personal pizza cooking class. Team members from multiple Hulu offices hosted storytelling sessions throughout the day, including Hulu’s President Kelly Campbell who read If I Built a School, while older kids participated in resume seminars and career talks given by Hulugans across the company. In celebration of this special day, Hulu also hosted a virtual book fair, in which twenty five percent of every purchase was donated to literacy programs for a school in need.
The day offered Hulugans and their kids the chance to break from their new daily routines and participate in a fun activity or project together. “With Hulugans currently working remotely, we knew it would be challenging to continue this annual tradition in the same way we do every year,” said Shannon Sullivan (SVP, Talent & Organization). “We were happy to open our virtual doors to Hulugans and their families across the country while celebrating our company’s core values.”
Product Management Director Travis McCann said about the day, “That was a blast, and just what we needed! This should be a regularly scheduled event!”
Hulu’s Bring Your Kids to Work Day featured 17 different activities for employees and their families to participate in, and is just one of the many ways Hulu is maintaining company culture while working from home.
